Be on the look out!

A "double mutant" COVID strain that was first identified in India has now been found in San Francisco, California.

The first case has been found in the Bay Area and are now screening seven other possible cases. While this case may be the first here in the US, seven more are suspected.

According to the Stanford Clinical Virology Lab, "double mutant" means that a strain now has two mutations. The "double mutant" is set to carry two mutations that help it latch onto cells. The new variant has been found in 20 percent of cases in Maharashtra, India.

Experts do not yet know if the variant is resistant to the vaccine.

So we will keep you posted with this ongoing story. For now, be sure to continue taking care of yourself, maintain a 6-feet distance, and wear you face covering.
