According to a report, JAY-Z declined the offer to perform at this football season's Super Bowl halftime show. This news comes days after the rapper showed support for Colin Kaepernick at the 2017 Meadows Festival.
Though nothing has yet to be confirmed, Metro says that Hov was rumored to perform with longtime friend and past collaborator Justin Timberlake. However, that's not going to happen. “Lots of people have been saying Jay will perform with Justin Timberlake, but it is simply not the case,” an insider claimed, according to Metro. “He has enough songs to create an incredible performance but he really has no plans to do the half-time show."
Just last weekend, JAY gave a special shoutout to Kaepernick -- the NFL baller who's yet to be signed to a team after kneeling during the national anthem numerous times at games last year -- while onstage at Meadows. The rapper dedicated his 4:44 track "The Story Of O.J." to the athlete, as well. "The Story Of O.J.," JAY told the crowd. "I want to dedicate this song to Colin Kaepernick tonight. I want to dedicate this to Dick Gregory. I want to dedicate this song to anyone that was held back and you overcame."
We're not sure if this alleged declination of the halftime show had anything to do with Kap. But, we're sure to find out soon enough.
