Ten-Year-Old Girl Records Video Of Her Mom Driving Drunk: Cops

Stephanie Davis, 31

A ten-year-old girl recorded a video of her mother driving drunk and then called the police because she didn't feel safe in the car. When police arrived at the scene, they found 31-year-old Stephanie Davis staggering around outside of her car. She admitted to drinking wine but refused to take a field sobriety test, forcing the officers to get a warrant so they could obtain a blood sample to determine her blood alcohol content.

"When she walked, she had to be supported by officers, and when she tried to exit the patrol vehicle, she fell down and had to be caught by officers," one of the responding officers wrote in court documents.

The young girl showed police the video of her mother behind the wheel in which she and her two younger cousins begged Davis to stop driving.

"The speed limit wasn't right and like really fast, and I didn't feel safe at that time, and I also wanted to protect my cousins and my mom," Davis' daughter told KTVK-TV. "I called the police, and I'm like my mom is not okay. I know she's drunk she's driving crazy."

Davis admitted to drinking wine while she was watching the Lion King with her daughter and two four-year-old nieces. She praised her daughter for taking action, and was glad that nobody hurt as a result of her decision to drive drunk.

"I'm very disgusted with my behavior, and I thank god so much that nothing happened to my daughter to my nieces and to nobody else," said Davis.

Davis was taken into custody and booked on suspicion of aggravated DUI. She was released on her own recognizance and is due to appear in court on September 23.
