Judge Denies Jeffrey Epstein Bail In Child Sex Trafficking Case

A federal judge has denied bail to billionaire and pedophile Jeffery Epstein. Judge Richard Berman ruled that Epstein's vast fortune makes him a flight risk. He also found that there was "clear and convincing evidence" that Epstein posed a danger to the public.

Epstein's defense team proposed a $77 million bail package. Epstein would have agreed to wear an electronic tracking device and remain in his New York City mansion, where he would be monitored by private security. He also offered to put up his private jet and Manhattan mansion as collateral.

Judge Berman found that Epstein's offer was "irretrievably inadequate" and that his "great wealth and his vast resources" made him a flight risk. He also noted the "compelling testimony" from two of Epstein's alleged victims who stated that they "fear for their safety."

Epstein pleaded not guilty to charges of sex trafficking of minors and conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking of minors. He faces up to 45 years behind bars if he is convicted.
