Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Report To Be Made Public on Thursday

Mueller's report to be released on Thursday

Special Counsel Robert Mueller's report on his investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 presidential election and President Donald Trump will be made public Thursday morning, the Justice Department announced Monday.

The report will be released to Congress as well as the public, according to Justice Department spokeswoman Kerri Kupec.

Last month, Attorney General William Barr sent a four-page memo outlining the special counsel's conclusions. In it, Barr wrote that Mueller found no proof that Trump or anyone associated with his campaign had criminally colluded with Russia. Barr also said that Mueller had no conclusion on whether Trump obstructed justice. However, the report did not exonerate the president, Barr wrote.

"(W)hile this report does not conclude that the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him," according to Barr's letter.

Mueller refused to make a prosecutorial judgement, instead leaving it up to the attorney general on whether the Justice Department should pursue obstruction charges against Trump.

Mueller's report has been a hot topic in Congress with Democrat congressional leaderse on six separate committees sending letters to the Attorney General demanding the full report be released without redactions.

Barr warned that the Justice Department would be redacting certain sections of Mueller's report to remove secret grand jury testimony, classified information as well as material related to on-going investigations.
