‘The Breakfast Club’ Reacts To Stunning Midterm Election Results

The Breakfast Club

The results are in for the midterm elections after Americans across the country made their voices heard.

On Wednesday, November 4, The Breakfast Club and the Black Information Network's Mimi Brown shared their thoughts on the massive blue tsunami that flipped historically Republican Senate and House seats. They discussed the stunning results in Iowa, Kansas, Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina, and especially Georgia, where former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms became the first Black woman to be elected governor.

"The quality of candidates on the Democratic side, I have never been more optimistic about in my life," Charlamagne said. "Because they're all focusing on everyday economic concerns rather than getting trapped in cultural battles."

The crew also recapped the tight races that have yet to be called, including Alaska and Mississippi. Earlier this week, The Breakfast Club sat down with Democratic nominee Scott Colom and discussed his campaign against longtime Mississippi senator Cindy Hyde-Smith. If elected, Colom would not only flip the deep-red state blue, but also become Mississippi's first Black senator. As of this report, Colom is leading Hyde-Smith by just 43 votes. It could be another week before the close race is called. More than 15,000 affidavit ballots still need to be counted.

The Breakfast Club saw the election results populate in real time at "The People's Election Night." DJ Envy, Charlamagne Tha God, Jess Hilarious and Loren LoRosa joined forces with The Native Land Pod's Angela Rye, Bakari Sellers and Andrew Gillum for a night of entertaining political commentary alongside special guests like Fat Joe, Nick Cannon and more.
