Patrick Xavier Clark, the prime suspect in TakeOff's murder, won't face trial until next year.

According to court records, Clark's trial date has been rescheduled for April 15, 2027, at 9 a.m. Jury selection for the trial was originally set to begin on November 5, followed by opening statements on November 9. However, the date seemingly shifted after an October 8 pretrial conference was "reset upon defense request." In a statement, Clark's new attorney, Kent Schaffer, said the state recently submitted a large amount of evidence that his team has not yet reviewed.

"Both sides had numerous trial conflicts and the state recently turned over a large amount of evidence that had not been seen by Mr. Clark's previous counsel," Schaffer said. "While there is nothing harmful in that evidence, we still need time to review it. We still fully expect to prevail."

Clark is facing a murder charge in connection with the Migos rapper's death. TakeOff, born Kirsnick Khari Ball, was fatally shot during a verbal altercation involving his uncle, Quavo, over a dice game at 810 Billiards & Bowling in Downtown Houston in 2022. The Migos rapper was struck in the head and torso. He was pronounced dead at the scene. According to prosecutors, surveillance video shows Clark pointing a gun at the group of people outside the bowling alley. They also obtained Clark's fingerprints from a wine bottle found at the scene.

Clark was arrested and charged about a month after the shooting. He pleaded not guilty. Clark's bail was originally set at $2 million. However, his previous attorney, Letitia Quinones-Hollins, convinced a judge that the amount was way too excessive and got it brought down to $1 million. Clark spent a year in jail before he posted his $1 million bond. He was released from the Harris County Jail in January 2023. In March, Clark switched up his defense team to include Schaffer, Dan Cogdell, and Anthony Osso.
