The Spanish soccer community is mourning the loss of Jesús de Miguel, a 30-year-old forward for CD Tenerife, who died following a cardiac arrest after an on-field collision. The incident occurred during a second-division match against FC Andorra on Monday (November 2) at Estadio Heliodoro Rodríguez López in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

According to NBC Miami, De Miguel was struck in the chest by Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono during stoppage time. The impact left him unconscious, and he was immediately treated on the field before being transported to a hospital. Despite efforts to stabilize him, his condition worsened, and he passed away at 8 a.m. on Tuesday (November 3).

CD Tenerife expressed their grief in a statement, saying, "There are no words of comfort; there is absolutely nothing that can alleviate this profound sense of sorrow." The club, located on Spain's Canary Islands, described itself as "heartbroken" and extended condolences to De Miguel's family and loved ones.

The Spanish Football Federation postponed several matches scheduled for Tuesday as a mark of respect. Fox 32 Chicago reported that the federation postponed two Copa del Rey matches and one Copa de la Reina match.

De Miguel, a native of Madrid, began his professional career in 2015 with Leganés B and joined Tenerife last year. His tragic death has prompted condolences from clubs across Europe, including FC Andorra, which is owned by former Barcelona star Gerard Piqué. The club stated, "We wish to extend our deepest condolences to the family of Jesús de Miguel, to all his colleagues and friends, and to CD Tenerife."

The Spanish soccer community continues to express its sorrow, with Yahoo Sports noting that several teams, including Barcelona and Real Madrid, have paid tribute to De Miguel. UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin announced that all UEFA matches this week will begin with a moment of silence in his memory.
