Jalen Brunson, the reigning NBA Finals MVP, is set to host the season premiere of NBC's 'Saturday Night Live' on Saturday, September 26. The New York Knicks guard will make his hosting debut as the iconic sketch comedy show kicks off its 52nd season. Brunson joins a prestigious list of athletes who have hosted the show, including Charles Barkley, Michael Jordan, and LeBron James.
The episode will also feature the debut of musical guest Katseye, a band currently on their Wildworld tour. Brunson's appearance on 'SNL' follows his remarkable performance in leading the Knicks to their first championship in over 50 years, a feat that has made him a celebrated figure in New York.
NBC has announced the lineup for the following episodes, which includes Dakota Johnson hosting on October 3 with musical guest Turnstile, and Shane Gillis hosting on October 10 with Rosalía as the musical guest. The show will take a two-week break before returning on October 31 with Inde Navarrette hosting and Gracie Abrams performing.
Brunson's hosting role marks a significant crossover from sports to entertainment, showcasing his versatility beyond the basketball court. As reported by Deadline, Brunson will be the first NBA player to host 'SNL' since Travis Kelce in 2025.
