The Dallas Cowboys have made significant roster changes ahead of their season opener against the New York Giants. Starting left guard Tyler Smith was placed on injured reserve today following thumb surgery. As a result, Smith will be sidelined for four to six weeks. To fill his spot, the Cowboys signed offensive lineman Nick Leverett from their practice squad.
In addition to these moves, the Cowboys have added veteran guard Laken Tomlinson to their practice squad. With Smith's absence, TJ Bass is expected to step into the starting lineup for the game on Sunday night (September 13).
