Cincinnati Bengals wide receivers Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins are set to return to the field for the season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday (September 13). Both players have been recovering from injuries, with Chase dealing with a hyperextended knee and Higgins nursing a heel injury. Their return to practice this week signals their readiness for the game, as confirmed by head coach Zac Taylor.
Chase, who was injured while attempting a deep pass, has assured fans that his injury is not serious. He emphasized his eagerness to get back on the field, having had a stellar performance last season with 125 receptions for 1,412 yards and eight touchdowns. Higgins, who missed practice due to a heel contusion, is also expected to be ready. Last season, he recorded 59 catches for 846 yards and 11 touchdowns. Together, they form a formidable duo crucial to the Bengals' offensive strategy.
In addition to the receivers, Bengals defensive end Shemar Stewart practiced without a knee brace, indicating progress in his recovery from a knee injury.
The Bengals, who went undefeated in the preseason, are looking to maintain their momentum as they kick off the regular season at Paycor Stadium. The game, set for 1 p.m. ET, will be broadcast live on FOX and on the Bengals Radio Network.
