Veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers is expected to arrive in Pittsburgh later today for a visit with the Pittsburgh Steelers, fueling speculation that he will sign with the team for the 2026 season. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, although no contract is finalized, Rodgers will meet with the Steelers this weekend as part of ongoing discussions about his future with the franchise. Rapoport emphasized that "a deal is not done & there is always caution until things are signed," but stated that Rodgers’ plan is to play for Pittsburgh and that these talks are a key step toward that goal.
The Fan Morning Show reported that Rodgers intends to sign with the Steelers as soon as this weekend.
Meanwhile, rumors linking Rodgers to the Arizona Cardinals have been dismissed, with ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss stating that there is "not at all" any truth to those claims.
Rodgers, now 42, joined the Steelers last season and led the team to a 10-6 record, throwing for 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Despite making the playoffs, the Steelers lost in the first round to the Houston Texans. The team’s leadership changes this offseason, including the hiring of former Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy, have set the stage for Rodgers’ likely return. Rodgers and McCarthy previously found success together in Green Bay, winning Super Bowl XLV.
The Steelers placed the transition tag on Rodgers in late April, giving the team the right to match any offer from other franchises. This move, along with the lack of a major free-agent signing at quarterback and a third-round draft pick used on Drew Allar, suggests the Steelers are prioritizing Rodgers as their starter for 2026.
The Steelers’ organized team activities begin on May 18, with mandatory minicamp starting on June 2.
