WNBA star Caitlin Clark will release a new children’s picture book this fall, sharing her journey from Des Moines, Iowa, to basketball stardom. Random House Books for Young Readers announced Tuesday (April 28) that EXTRAordinary! A Little EXTRA to Reach BIG Dreams will be published on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. The book is written in rhyming verse and aims to inspire kids ages four to eight to work hard and seek support from those around them.
The story draws inspiration from a motto that hung in Clark’s childhood bedroom: “The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is the little EXTRA.”
“Basketball has given me so many incredible opportunities, but what has always meant the most to me are the people who’ve supported me along the way. I hope this book reminds kids that they’re never alone in chasing their dreams and that giving a little extra to the people and moments is what makes them EXTRAordinary," Clark said in a statement.
The book features illustrations by Adriana Predoi and will be 32 pages long. According to Penguin Random House, Clark’s message focuses on the importance of effort and support.
Clark, 24, currently plays for the Indiana Fever and is entering her third WNBA season. She was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft and quickly made an impact, earning Rookie of the Year and All-Star honors, as well as finishing fourth in the MVP voting during her debut season. Injuries limited her to 13 games last year, but she has returned to action and is healthy for the 2026 campaign, which starts on May 9.
Clark’s foundation is dedicated to empowering youth through nutrition, education, and sport, further reflecting her commitment to inspiring young people on and off the court.
