Lil Tjay has commented on the shooting case involving Offset as he prepares to drop his first independent album.
The New York native just dropped his new single "Life On Edge" via his imprint TrenchKid Records/ADA. He released the music video for the song, which starts with a much-needed therapy session. The somber song is set to appear on his first independent project, They Just Ain’t You. A couple of weeks before the song dropped, Lil Tjay spoke to Billboard about putting his album together and where he stands on the shooting at a casino in Florida that injured Offset.
“I’m just as confused as everyone else about that,” he said about the case. “My lawyer told me not to touch on it too much. What I can say is the album will really hit home for my fans.”
Lil Tjay was with a group of men in the valet area of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla., before they approached Offset. According to the Seminole Police Department, security footage allegedly shows the New York rapper jumping out of his car and pointing at Offset. Police allege Tjay "directed members of his party to start a fight with another group of males." That's when a brawl erupted. One man reportedly took out a gun and shot Offset in the leg. Tjay and another man were arrested, but they weren't charged with the shooting.
Over the past few weeks, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has been investigating the incident. They recently posted photos of the moments leading up to the shooting, including clear images of the suspects who are still on the run. Lil Tjay and another man were arrested and booked at a nearby jail. Tjay was charged with disorderly conduct and operating a vehicle without a valid license. He denied shooting Offset, but he did call him a "rat" after he posted bond.
