Foogiano, the only artist remaining from Gucci Mane's "New 1017" era, has reportedly been released from prison.
On Tuesday, April 21, producer Spiffomadeit shared an Instagram Story that shows Foogiano flashing a huge grin following his release. He captioned the photo, "No more Free Foo," which instantly led fans to celebrate the Georgia native's freedom. Foogiano's photographer, Tony, also seemingly confirmed his release by posting a positive message for the rapper. "Stay free welcome home Foo," he wrote. Foogiano was released after he served five years behind bars for removing his ankle monitor while on bond.
Foogiano, born Kwame Khalil Brown, was charged and convicted of possession of a firearm in 2021. At the time, he was released on a $50,000 bond. However, he removed his ankle bracelet and went on the run for three months before police caught him. He was sentenced to five years in prison.
The 32-year-old artist had just signed with Gucci Mane's 1017 label before he was arrested. He had just released his debut album Gutta Baby via 1017 and Atlantic. Prior to that, he had released a series of mixtapes. He also appeared on several compilation albums with 1017. Foogiano is the only artist left on 1017 after Gucci dropped most of his artists in 2024. Foo and Pooh Shiesty were the only artists to remain on the roster
As of this report, Foogiano himself has not publicly commented since his release. Gucci Mane also hasn't commented on the situation.
