Former Vice President and 2024 Democratic nominee Kamala Harris confirmed she's "thinking about" running for president again in 2028 while appearing before African American activists during the National Action Network's annual convention on Friday (April 10).

“I might. I am thinking about it,” Harris told Rev. Al Sharpton during the event, which will feature more than a half-dozen potential 2028 presidential candidates vying for Black voters this weekend.

Harris had previously said she "might" run for president again in 2028 during her interview with author Sharon McMahon in February.

"I haven't decided," Harris responded when asked by McMahon if she plans to run again.

"You're still thinking about it?" McMahon asked.

"I might," Harris replied.

McMahon then claimed that Harris' memoir, 107 Days, which focused on her 2024 presidential campaign, gave the impression that she "wants" to run again, though the former vice president denied this was her intention.

"No, the book is about a specific period in time. There was no agenda beyond what we’ve discussed already, which is just sharing with people, you know, the reality of the experience, and hopefully allowing people to see something of themselves in it, in a way that, you know, that Girl Scout troop, when it comes time for them to read it, might see themselves in and know what they can do and that they could do it," Harris said.

Harris remains a favorite to win the 2028 Democratic nomination in several polls despite her 2024 election loss to President Donald Trump. The former vice president has the majority of support in the latest Issues & Insights, Harvard Caps Harris and YouGov polls conducted in 2026 while California Gov. Gavin Newsom has the lead in the Bowling Green University, Echelon Insights and Yahoo/YouGov surveys conducted since January.
