Ye's former bodyguard has piled on to the rapper's lengthy list of legal issues after he demanded a nearly $1 million payment amid his ongoing lawsuit.
According to a report TMZ published on Wednesday, April 8, the artist formerly known as Kanye West is being sued by his ex-employee after he allegedly refused to pay him for his services. The bodyguard, Jonathan Monroe, joined Ye's security team in 2021. Moore alleged he wasn't paid the wages he was owed and wasn't given any overtime. Monroe said he tried to collect his paycheck from Ye several times, but the rapper allegedly left him hanging.
"When I asked for cash or use of his credit card to cover the expense, [Kanye] walked away from me without a response," Monroe said about his previous attempt to collect from Ye after the rapper asked him to fill his gas tank.
Monroe is now demanding damages amounting to $850,000, including $500,000 in lost earnings, $100,000 for his pain and suffering, $100,000 in punitive damages, $37,620 in lost wages, and $7,725 for unpaid overtime.
The update in Monroe's lawsuit comes nearly a month after Ye was found liable for allegations made by another former employee. A judge ordered the seasoned artist to pay $140,000 to Tony Saxon for medical expenses and lost wages. Ye's former handyman sued him in 2023 for $1.7 million after Saxon was ultimately fired from his position as a project manager of the remodel of his multimillion-dollar home in Malibu. Saxon gutted the home to fulfill Ye's outrageous demands. However, his disagreements with Saxon left the property in ruin. Ye ultimately sold the property in 2024 for $21 million.
As if that legal battle wasn't enough, Ye is also still involved in a lawsuit from his former assistant Lauren Pisciotta, who accused him of sexual assault, battery, stalking, sex trafficking, false imprisonment, and more last year. He was also sued by a former Yeezy employee who claimed Ye bullied her for being Jewish.
