Republican prosecutor Clay Fuller is projected to have defeated Democrat Shawn Harris in a runoff to fill former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's congressional seat Tuesday (April 7) night, NBC News reports.

Fuller reportedly led Harris by a 57.5% to 42.5% margin with more than 85% of the expected vote counted. The special election to determine Greene's successor in the 14th Congressional District went to a runoff after no candidate won a majority of the vote in the all-party primary held last month.

Fuller, however, was the projected favorite, landing President Donald Trump's endorsement in the same district that he won by a 37% advantage during the 2024 presidential election. The prosecutor ran his campaign on the promise that he was the best choice for voters who "100% support President Trump," and included the endorsement on advertisements, having raised $6.4 million during the election cycle, while Trump, himself, appeared alongside Fuller at an event in the district.

Fuller also touted his record as a local prosecutor, a lieutenant colonel in the Georgia Air National Guard and role within the first Trump administration. Greene, who initially gained national attention as one of Trump's fiercest congressional allies, resigned in January after she broke with the president over his handling of the release of files in connection with the investigation into late convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
