LaRussell is still facing some backlash after he performed a song in which he claimed President Donald Trump, Adolf Hitler and other polarizing figures are "heaven sent."
On Saturday, March 14, the Vallejo, Calif. native shared a video of himself performing his recent song "Heaven Sent" from his recent project Father God, Guide Me. Before he began, LaRussell revealed that his engineer called him and advised him not to put the song out.
"I said 'Why what the hell happened?" the rapper told his fans. "He said 'You talking about Epstein. There's a lot of s**t going on.' I said, 'Thank you for calling me. I'm finna drop this.'"
"That's exactly why we need it," he continued. "Cause everybody sit and be silent. The goal of an artist is to express the times and say all the things that nobody wanna say or know how to say."
On the song, LaRussell raps, "I ain't perfect and neither is the president/What's guiltier than a n***a hiding evidence/Can't be upset when they heated if you don't let them vent/Even the devil was heaven sent/Even Kanye was heaven sent/Even Hitler was heaven sent/Even Martin was heaven sent/We all heaven sent, Donald, too/We all heaven sent, Epstein, too/We all heaven sent, Malcolm, too, We all heaven sent."
Soon after he posted the video, LaRussell immediately received backlash from those who aren't fans of Trump or any of the controversial people he mentions in the song. Most people agreed with his engineer that he shouldn't have released it while others urged him to tread lightly. After artists like Chuck Inglish weighed in on his song, LaRussell tried to defend his controversial song.
"What do y'all think I'm saying in this song?" he replied. "Is it the truth that's bothersome or is it what YOU think I'm saying? I'm saying every human was made by God. Even the evil ones. Even the niggas going to hell alongside some of yall uncles, daddies, and favorite rappers 😂😂.
