The Duke Blue Devils were selected as the top overall seed in the 2026 NCAA March Madness Tournament and the East Region during the CBS' live Selection Show on Sunday (March 15).
The Blue Devils, who were hours removed from defeating Virginia, 74-70, in the ACC Championship Game Saturday, will face the No. 16 seed Siena Saints, in the opening round. Duke ended the regular season as the No. 1 overall team in both the Associated Press and Coaches polls.
Arizona was selected as the No. 1 seed in the West region and will face Purdue, which jumped up from a No. 3 seed to a No. 2 seed after its win against Michigan in the Big Ten Championship Game. The Wildcats will look to clinch their first Final Four appearance since 2001.
Michigan will still top the No. 1 seed in the Midwest despite its Big Ten Championship Game loss. The Wolverines are led by Big Ten player of the year Yaxel Lendeborg, with the team averaging a winning margin of 19.4 points per game entering the conference tournament.
The defending national champion Florida Gators top the South region with the runner-up Houston Cougars taking the No. 2 seed. The SEC led all conferences with 10 teams among the field of 68.
