Jack Harlow is back with his most soulful album yet.
On Friday, March 13, the Kentucky native celebrated his 28th birthday by dropping his fourth studio album, Monica. The album comes with nine tracks and no official collaborations. However, Harlow enlists singer Ravyn Lenae, who contributes vocals to songs like "Prague," "My Winter," and "All Of My Friends." Other vocalists, like R&B singer Jermaine Paul and multifaceted artist Omar Apollo, also lend their talents to the project. Grammy Award-winning musician Robert Glasper rounds out the project by hopping on the piano for the closing track, "Say Hello."
Harlow flexes his vocals in ways fans have never heard before. He delivers smooth bars over neo-soul style instrumentals, which would sound incredible in a live show. During his recent appearance on Popcast, Harlow said he wanted to go in a different direction for his new album.
“I love Black music," he explained. "I love the sound of Black music. Of course, I’m hyper aware of the politics of today — that safer landing spot that a lot of my white contemporaries have found. Of course, it appealed to me to do something that I felt like at a time when there's plenty of people expecting me to take some of the routes y'all are taking to take the route that not only might not be expected but is also the one I genuinely wanted to take. So all the stars aligned in that way for me."
Jack Harlow's "Trade Places" appears at the top of iHeartRadio's Rap Rising playlist. The weekly round-up of new music also includes the latest from BossMan Dlow, Chief Keef, YG and more. Press play above and scroll below to hear, more fresh hits.
