Free agent quarterback Kyler Murray has reportedly signed a one-year deal with the Minnesota Vikings, his agent, Erik Burkhardt, confirmed to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport on Thursday (March 12).

"Two-time Pro Bowl QB Kyler Murray has signed a one-year contract with the Vikings, his agent @ErikBurkhardt tells me and @RapSheet. The deal includes a no-tag clause. Murray will make $36.8 million this season, with Arizona paying all but the minimum salary," Pelissero wrote on his X account. "Kyler Murray is still only 28 years old. He now has the opportunity to become the latest QB to play his best football under Kevin O'Connell -- and then hit free agency again next March. A fascinating year ahead."

Pelissero added that "the Vikings' hope is competition will also bring out the best" in former first-round pick J.J. McCarthy. Murray was reported to have visited the Vikings on Thursday, one day after officially being released by the Arizona Cardinals.

The former Heisman Trophy winner was limited to just five starts in 2025 due to a mid-foot sprain he sustained in Week 5 and was shut down in December after it was reported that his injury was not healing as expected. Murray was selected by the Cardinals at No. 1 overall in the 2019 NFL Draft and was the 2019 NFL Rookie of the Year, as well as a Pro Bowler during the 2020 and 2021 seasons, but has been limited by injuries, having played 11 or less games in three of the last four seasons.
