Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby is reportedly back with the team after the previously agreed upon trade to the Baltimore Ravens was called off Tuesday (March 10) due to a reported failed physical, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday (March 11) morning.
"#Raiders star Maxx Crosby, now back from Baltimore with the trade to the #Ravens off, is headed back into the building in Las Vegas, ready to resume his training and rehab program. His mindset: Crosby is ready to play football for the #Raiders, ready to move forward," Rapoport wrote on his X account.
Crosby is two months removed from a full meniscus repair and a source told Rapoport that he "looks great and feels great" but the timing limits the chances of a trade getting done. NFL teams have reportedly contacted the Raiders about getting a good deal done since they announced the trade with the Ravens was off and Crosby is focused on rehabilitation and returning to the field, according to Rapoport.
The Athletic's Dianna Russini, who had reported on Tuesday that Crosby failed his physical in Baltimore, reported that teams who were interested in acquiring Crosby, including the Ravens, spoke to his surgeon, Dr. Neal ElAttrache, and the Raiders' medical staff prior to making trade offers.
"Teams that were interested in trading for Maxx Crosby, including the Ravens, had conversations with his surgeon, Neal ElAttrache, and the Raiders’ medical staff before making trade offers," Russini wrote on her X account. "The Ravens’ doctors — along with multiple independent ones — reviewed Crosby’s MRI. They were unified in the belief that Crosby’s short-term outlook was positive, but there were concerns about the long-term prognosis of Crosby’s knee, per sources. Baltimore believed the risk was too high given the compensation it was giving up."
Crosby's agent, CJ LaBoy, shared a post on his X account addressing the situation Tuesday night.
"Maxx continues to be on track in his recovery and if anything is ahead of schedule according to his surgeon Dr. Neal El Attrache. Maxx remains on track to return during the offseason program & will undoubtedly return as the dominant game wrecker he has been these past 7 seasons," LaBoy wrote.
The Raiders announced the trade had been called off Tuesday night, claiming the Ravens backed out of the deal, in a statement shared on their social media accounts.
”The Baltimore Ravens have backed out of our trade agreement for Maxx Crosby. We will have no further comment at this time,” the Raiders said.
Crosby was placed on injured reserve with two games left in the 2026 NFL season and disgruntled about the decision, having left the building. The defensive end experienced the left knee injury on October 19, having still recorded 73 tackles, 28 tackles for loss and 10 sacks during an injury-shortened season, earning his fifth Pro Bowl selection.
Crosby and the Raiders agreed to a three-year, $106.5 million extension, which includes $91.5 million guaranteed, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history at the time of signing, last offseason.
