Soon-to-be free agent Isiah Pacheco will reportedly sign with the Detroit Lions, a source with knowledge of the situation confirmed to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero on Tuesday (March 10).
"Source: The Lions are signing RB Isiah Pacheco," Pelissero wrote on his X account.
Pacheco, 27, who spent his first four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, can officially sign with the Lions at the start of the 2026 NFL league year on Wednesday (March 11) at 4:00 p.m. ET, at which point all 2025 contracts will expire. The reported agreement comes one week after the Lions traded running back David Montgomery to the Houston Texans and one day after the Chiefs agreed to terms with Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III.
Pacheco was selected by the Chiefs at No. 251 overall in the seventh-round of the 2022 NFL Draft and was a key contributor on Kansas City's Super Bowl LVII and LVIII teams. The former Rutgers standout enters his fifth season with 2,537 yards and 14 touchdowns on 576 rushing attempts, as well as 88 receptions for 554 yards and three touchdowns.
Pacheco was limited to 12 starts in 13 games during the 2025 season due to a knee injury, recording 462 yards and one touchdown on 118 rushing attempts, as well as 19 receptions for 101 yards and one touchdown, with veteran Kareem Hunt leading the Chiefs with 611 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 163 attempts.
