Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz has been ruled out for the remainder of the AFC Divisional Round playoff game against the New England Patriots, the team announced on its X account.

".@ShariffLawFirm Texans Injury Update: #86 TE Dalton Schultz has been downgraded to out with a calf injury," the Texans confirmed.

Schultz was seen walking to the locker room with Texans medical staffers during the first quarter of Sunday's game. The former Stanford standout recorded two receptions for 47 yards prior to his injury.

Schultz led the Texans with 82 receptions and recorded 777 yards and three touchdowns during the 2025 regular season. Houston was already without primary wide receiver Nico Collins -- the only player with more yards (1,117) than Schultz during the regular season -- who was ruled out after suffering a concussion in Monday's (January 12) AFC Wild Card Round win against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Texans trailed the Patriots, 21-10, at halftime with quarterback C.J. Stroud throwing four interceptions, while Schultz remained the team's leading receiver despite being out for the entire second quarter. The winner of Sunday's game will face the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship Game at Empower Field at Mile High next Sunday (January 25).
