The Arizona Cardinals have reportedly fired head coach Jonathan Gannon, sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

"The #AZCardinals are firing coach Jonathan Gannon, sources say. Endless losses to finish an injury-riddled season spelled the end of Gannon, who should be a top-tier defensive coordinator candidate now," Rapoport wrote on his X account Monday (January 5). "The Cardinals have major QB questions and with the likelihood that they'll move on from Kyler Murray, the new coach has plenty of questions. But there is plenty of talent on this roster."

Gannon, who had previously worked as the Philadelphia Eagles' defensive coordinator during the 2021 and 2022 seasons, was hired by the Cardinals in 2023 and went 15-36 during three seasons with the franchise, which included a 3-14 finish in 2025.

Arizona began the 2025 season with back-to-back wins against the New Orleans Saints in Week 1 and Carolina Panthers in Week 2 before losing their next five games. The Cardinals defeated the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9 before ending their season on a nine-game losing streak.

Arizona will look to hire its fifth head coach in 10 years following the tenures of Gannon, Kliff Kingsbury (2019 to 2022), Steve Wilks (2018) and Bruce Arians (2013-17).
