The Indianapolis Colts will reportedly retain head coach Shane Steichen and general manager Chris Ballard for the 2026 season, with owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon set to speak during the team's exit interviews on Monday (January 4), NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on Sunday (January 4).

"#Colts GM Chris Ballard and coach Shane Steichen will return for the 2026 season, per sources. Owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon will speak to the media tomorrow," Rapoport wrote on his X account. "A tumultuous season in Indy. But enough reasons to run it back and see more."

Steichen, 40, has gone 25-26 in three seasons with the Colts, which included 8-9 records in each of the last two seasons. Ballard, 56, was hired by Indianapolis in 2017 and the team has gone 70-77-1, which only includes two playoff appearances in 2018 and 2020, during that span.

The Colts finished the season with an 8-9 record following Sunday's (January 4) loss to the AFC South Division rival Houston Texans.

Indianapolis had an 8-2 record before losing seven consecutive games to end the season. The Colts saw a career renaissance from starting quarterback Daniel Jones prior to his season-ending injury on December 7 three games into the losing streak.

Indianapolis signed retired 44-year-old quarterback Philip Rivers to start three consecutive games before rookie Riley Leonard started in Sunday's loss to the Texans.
