Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the 2025 NBA regular season and Finals MVP, confirmed that he and his family were safe after his home was targeted by thieves while he was playing a game last week.

"Long story short, everybody's safe, and that's all that really matters in the whole thing," Gilgeous-Alexander told reporters on Sunday (November 2) after the Thunder's win against the New Orleans Pelicans via NBC News. "Everything else will come and go, but my loved ones are safe, so I'm OK. I'm happy."

Police in the Oklahoma enclave of Nichols Hills didn't release any new information about the break-in, which took place Thursday (October 30) night as the Thunder hosted the Washington Wizards at Paycom Center.

"The suspects fled the area prior to police arrival," the Nichols Hills Police Department said in a statement obtained by NBC News. "While no arrests have been made, there is no reason to believe the public is in any danger."

The department didn't confirm whether anyone was at home at the time or whether anything was stolen during the break-in. Gilgeous-Alexander is the latest among high-profile athletes who have been targeted by burglars in recent months following incidents involving NFL stars Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Joe Burrow, NBA star Luka Dončić and NHL star Evgeni Malkin.

The Canadian native is coming off a career season in which he won his first NBA regular season MVP award, averaging a league-best 32.7 points, as well as 6.4 assists and 5.0 rebounds, before leading the Thunder to an NBA championship, recording 22 points, 10 assists and zero turnovers in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals.
