Trick Daddy's bloodline has been etched in Miami-Dade County history after he received a new street named after him in his hometown.

On Saturday, October 11, District 9 Commissioner Kionne L. McGhee held a street naming ceremony for Trick, born Maurice Young, at the Goulds Park Community Center in Cutler Bay. Goulds is the area where the multi-hyphenated artist was born before he and his family relocated to Liberty City. The ceremony featured touching remarks from Trick's parents, Yolanda and Charles Young, members of the Miami Police Department, and a musical tribute by Gia Wyre.

"Trick, welcome to the history books of Miami-Dade County," McGhee said.

"Your name is now associated with the Ron Tookes, the Mary Brickells, the Walter T. Richardsons, and all the great people who poured so much into this community, not because they were perfect, but because they were authentic," he added.

After the ceremony, Commissioner McGhee and Trick Daddy led the crowd to the corner of SW 216 Street and SW 115 Ave to reveal his new street sign. The "Let's Go" rapper was surrounded by family members, city officials, the Goulds Ram Dancers, and fans as they pulled down the red cover and displayed the street sign for the first time.

This is the second street in Miami that's been named after Trick Daddy. Earlier this year, the City of Miami voted to approve a proposal, spearheaded by Commissioner Keon Hardemon, to rename several streets after a slew of Dade County natives, including Trina, Uncle Luke, Ball Greezy, and others. NW 69th Terrace in Liberty City was renamed to "Trick Love Da Kids" Street in honor of his iconic slogan, which appears several times in his music.

"[Hardemon] is doing something good for the community," Trick said. "And whenever they break ground on this thing on 18th Avenue, I'm gon' be there. I'ma have the Sunday's truck out there and any other thing that's available for me that we can talk about — any property I can purchase, any business I can put there — I'm on that."

Congratulations to Trick Daddy!
