Cardi B is opening up about the moment when she knew her marriage to Offset was officially over.
The Grammy Award-winning rapper joined Jay Shetty for the latest episode of On Purpose, which dropped on Monday, October 6. While reflecting on the past year following her split from the "JEALOUSY" rapper, Cardi explained how she was wallowing in a period of dark depression due to pressure from her career and the downfall of her marriage.
"I felt the love dying," Cardi said. "From my end, from his end.. I was very lonely because I chose to be lonely."
"I was saying, 'You know what? I can't go through this anymore," she explained. "I have to put a stop to it.' But when I said I was going to put a stop to it — because you can say you're going to put a stop to it, and you could go a month without being around somebody. It's not when you say so. It's when your heart says so. I kept telling myself, 'I would not contact this person for a month. I would not give in. I would not forgive this easy. I would not go back. I would not go to the pattern. I would not go through it. But I was crying everyday. I was hurt everyday. I was thinking about it every single day. But when your heart is not done, your heart is not done."
Cardi went on to explain that she tried to work on her flaws in their marriage after she got pregnant with her third child, Blossom. Unfortunately, Offset allegedly took advantage of Cardi's attempt to hold herself accountable, which totally killed all hope of reconciling with him. Once she was able to get over him, the 33-year-old mother of four felt stronger than ever before.
Cardi B filed for divorce from Offset last August. Since then, the estranged couple has gone their separate ways, but their divorce has not been finalized yet. They're still working out the terms for spousal support and custody of their three children.
