Actress Sofia Vergara once dated Pro Football Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez, her longtime former Modern Family co-star Eric Stonestreet revealed during an appearance on the Like a Farmer podcast.

Stonestreet, a Kansas City Chiefs fan, revealed Vergara's apparent past relationship with Gonzalez, who spent the first 12 of his 17-year NFL career in Kansas City, when host Pat Spinosa acknowledged reports that the actress "might be dating" seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady earlier this year, claiming, "that's what was [reported] online" amid reports of a "summer romance" in June.

“Well, really?” Stonestreet said in response to the Brady rumor. “I mean, I can find out, I guess. I don’t know. You know, she dated Tony Gonzalez years ago. That’s a great story.

“So when we first started hanging out and she’s getting to know me, and I’m wearing a lot of Chiefs stuff. She goes, ‘Eric, are you a Kansas fan?’ And I said, ‘Yeah.’

“[She said], ‘I used to date a Chief.’ She didn’t say the word date. She goes, ‘I used to date a Chief.’ And I’m like, who? She’s like Tony Gonzalez, dummy.’

“I had no idea. I didn’t know who Sofia Vergara was when Tony Gonzalez was a Chief. I didn’t know that. But yeah, she used to date Tony Gonzalez way back when.”

Stonestreet didn't specify when Vergara and Gonzalez dated. The Hall of Fame tight end played for the Chiefs from 1997 to 2008 and Modern Family first aired in 2009. Gonzalez was later married to Lauren Sanchez, the wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, and celebrated a 'commitment ceremony' with his wife, October Gonzalez, in 2007.

The Prime Video NFL analyst was the Chiefs' franchise leader in career receptions, receiving yards and touchdown receptions prior to all three records being broken by fellow tight end Travis Kelce and holds the NFL records for career receptions and receiving yards, while also ranking second behind fellow Hall of Famer Antonio Gates in career touchdown receptions.
