Conservative political activist Charlie Kirk is reportedly in critical condition after being shot during an event at Utah Valley University, a law enforcement source briefed on the incident confirmed to the Associated Press on Wednesday (September 10).

Turning Point USA, the conservative youth organization founded by Kirk, 31, confirmed that he was shot during the event in a statement obtained by the AP.

“We are confirming that he was shot and we are praying for Charlie,” said Aubrey Laitsch, public relations manager for the organization.

Another Turning Point USA official confirmed that Kirk was shot in the neck and "it doesn't look good" in a statement to CBS News.

A person was taken into custody in relation to the incident, however, Utah Valley University senior director of public relations later confirmed that the suspect was still at large.
