50 Cent plans to bring the Street Fighter universe to life as a brand-new film franchise.
Earlier this week, the multifaceted artist and filmmaker announced that production on his rendition of the popular video game had officially begun. In an Instagram post, Fif shared an image of the infamous Street Fighter logo and told his followers that he's currently working on the film. A couple of days later, the "Power" creator revealed he will play "Balrog" in the film and later confirmed that he already wants to make the sequel based on Balrog's life story.
"I haven’t been posting because I’m working on my new movie 🎥 Street Fighter. I’m working what you doing ?" he wrote. "STREET FIGHTER the movie coming soon, then I’m a come with STREET FIGHTER II BALROG 🔥 @50centaction All Roads lead to SHREVEPORT!"
The upcoming Street Fighter film will also star Jason Momoa, Noah Centineo, Eric André, David Dastmalchian, Rayna Vallandingham, and others. It will also star WWE wrestlers Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes. As of this report, the film is expected to debut in 2026. It would arrive 30 years after the first live-action Street Fighter starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, Raul Julia and Ming-Na Wen. Grand L. Bush played "Balrog" in the original version, while the late Michael Clarke Duncan portrayed the character in the 2009 adaptation, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li.
50 Cent has become known for his unique roles in action films over the years. His last major role was in The Expendables 4 with Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham.
