Denzel Washington is getting candid about how he feels about the Oscars.

During a recent interview on "Jake's Takes," Washington, who boasts nine Oscar nominations and two wins, made it clear that awards have never driven his career choices.

“I don’t do it for Oscars. I don’t care about that kind of stuff,” Washington said. “I’ve been at this a long time, and there’s times when I won and shouldn’t have won and then didn’t win and should’ve won. Man gives the award. God gives the reward.”

The actor added that he's "not that interested in Oscars."

“People ask me, ‘Where do I keep it?’ Well, next to the other one. I’m not bragging! Just telling you how I feel about it. On my last day, [Oscars] aren’t going to do me a bit of good," he said.

Earlier this year, Washington, who previously won Best Supporting Actor for Glory and Best Actor for Training Day, was widely seen as an Oscar snub for his performance in Gladiator II.

“Are you kidding me? Awww. Oh, I’m so upset,” Washington said sarcastically when asked about the snub during a New York Times interview. “I’m happy for all that did, and I’m happy with what I’m doing.”

Washington is currently promoting his upcoming film Highest 2 Lowest, which premieres in select theaters on Friday (August 15) and streams on Apple TV+ beginning September 5.
