Portuguese soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and model Georgina Rodriguez announced their engagement after eight years of dating.
"Yes I do. In this and in all my lives, Rodriguez wrote in a translated Instagram post showing her large engagement ring.
Ronaldo, 40, and Rodriguez, 31, confirmed their relationship at the best FIFA Football Awards in January 2017 and shared their first Instagram post together in May of that same year. The couple has five children together: twins Eva Maria and Mateo, 8, Alana, 7, and Bella, 3, as well as her twin brother Ángel, who died in April 2022. Ronaldo's oldest son, Cristiano Jr. was born from a previous relationship.
Ronaldo said he found Rodriguez to be a "very interesting girl, so much more mature for her age" when they first met in an audio translation from her Netflix series I am Georgina.
"Many times he'd come after work," Rodriguez said of Ronaldo. "He would come, I remember once, in a Bugatti. My coworkers went crazy. They get there on the bus, and I would leave in a Bugatti. I mean, people couldn't believe it."
"It was funny because I would wait for her outside the store in these flashy cars I have. ... We would go home, and there we would go into our own world," Ronaldo added.
Ronaldo, who currently plays for the Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, is one of soccer's most recognizable international stars with five Ballon d'Or awards, three UEFA Men's Player of the Year Awards, four European Golden Shoes and having been named as the world's best player by FIFA five times.
