JT is reflecting on life after her City Girls era and the positive direction of her long-lasting relationship with boyfriend Lil Uzi Vert.

In the latest cover story Cosmopolitan published on Monday, July 21, the Miami native gushed about the exciting new chapter of her music career. JT has been on a roll since she and Yung Miami went their separate ways last year. She's had plenty of success with her debut mixtape City Cinderella thanks to songs like "OKAY" and "JT Coming." The 32-year-old artist acknowledged the hardships of going solo, but she also doesn't regret any of her decisions.

“It’s not what I wanted, but it was what was destined to happen," JT said about City Girls' demise. "I don’t feel regretful about it. I feel happy, in control, and like I’m where I’m supposed to be….Anybody who was ever in a group will say how hard it is to go into a solo career. I feel like we were doing our own thing for so long and it was like—and I don’t mean this harshly—but it was bound to happen."

City Girls split shortly after they dropped their final album RAW in 2023. Since then, JT said she's reached a "good place" and continues to challenge herself, whether it's in music or fashion. Following the release of City Cinderella, JT went on to promote the project with her first solo tour and recruited Jeezy for the "OKAY (Remix)." She kept the hits coming this year when she dropped her latest single, "Ran Out."

In addition to her booming solo career, JT has also remained committed to her relationship with Lil Uzi Vert. Both rap stars have been together for six years now, and it looks like they might remain a couple for the foreseeable future.

“I’m not married yet, but we definitely are going to marry each other," JT said. "That’s my best friend. That’s my dog. Uzi is such a cool person. We’ve been together since 2019, so we’ve been growing together. We just look at each other and are like, 'Damn, we really cool. We really know each other. We really can exist and still like each other.' It’s beyond love.”

“My man knows me like a book," she said about her dream proposal. "It cannot be nobody with no ugly outfits. It can’t be nobody standing in the way with too many phones. It needs to be very elegant. I need to have soft glam, short nails. I kind of don’t want it to be on Instagram after. I don’t want my engagement to be announced on The Shade Room. Oh my god, I would die. ‘Uzi proposed to JT,’ and the people come. This is not for y’all….I want it to be how Beyoncé did it, with a little video of it and the people see it years later. Let’s keep some things to ourselves.”
