LL COOL J is gathering some of Hip-Hop's veterans and rising stars to help tell the story of the genre's birth in New York City.

On Friday, June 27, Paramount Plus dropped the trailer for its upcoming docuseries, Hip Hop Was Born Here, executive produced by LL and Peyton Manning. In the preview, the "Rock The Bells" MC links up with iconic figures who established the foundation of the beloved genre, from pioneers like Grandmaster Caz and Roxanne Shanté to today's popular acts like Fivio Foreign and Crystal Caines.

“To understand the power of hip-hop today, you gotta go back to where it all started,” LL says in the trailer.

“We were lucky to partner with [LL Cool J], Rock the Bells, and Paramount on Hip Hop Was Born Here,” Manning said in a statement. “Music is far from my area of expertise, but sports and music have a lot of similarities. Both require hard work and commitment, and at their best, both bring people together. The story of hip hop, especially in New York City, is an important one to tell, and there’s no one better than Todd to tell it.”

Hip Hop Was Born Here will also feature appearances by Big Daddy Kane, Doug E. Fresh, James “Bimmy” Antney, Sheek Louch, Lady London, Marley Marl, Method Man and Rev Run. The five-part docuseries is set to premiere on Paramount Plus on July 22.
