Free agent running back Nick Chubb will reportedly sign with the Houston Texans on Monday (June 9) pending a physical, sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport on Sunday (June 8).

"Sources: #Browns free agent RB Nick Chubb, one of the most decorated players available, is expected to sign with the #Texans on Monday if all goes well with his physical, sources say. Chubb’s 2024 ended prematurely with an injury, but now he could return for more in Houston," Rapoport wrote on his X account.

Chubb's interest in the Texans was previously reported by ESPN's Jeremy Fowler on Sunday during a live broadcast of SportsCenter.

"I was told that he's hoping to sign here soon, and maybe he gets something done before a minicamp, gets into a team," Fowler said via CBS Sports. "The return to Cleveland's not totally off the table, from what I'm told, but probably unlikely because of their draft plans; they drafted multiple running backs. I'm told Houston could be one to watch here. They've been looking at that running back market, maybe adding somebody with Joe Mixon."

Chubb, 29, appeared in eight games during the 2024 season, returning in Week 7 after suffering a season-ending knee injury in Week 2 of the 2023 season, before breaking his foot. The former University of Georgia standout recorded 996 yards as a rookie in 2018 before four consecutive 1,000 yard seasons, averaging 84.5 yards per game and 5.2 yards per carry during his first five NFL seasons.
