WWE superstar Ron 'R-Truth' Killings announced his departure from the company in posts shared on his social media accounts Sunday (June 1) morning.
"Im sorry to inform you all. I just got released from WWE. I want to thank WWE for the ride, but MOSTLY I want to thank each and EVERYONE OF YOU who was along for the ride, Thank you for all the love, support, and appreciation you have given me over the years. Thank you," Killings wrote.
Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp confirmed that Killings' "tweet is accurate," as his comedic on-screen character commonly confused things, but specified that he would be departing "WWE when his deal expires."
"A lot of shock and disbelief within the WWE roster over R Truth not being brought back," Sapp added in a separate post on his X account.
Killings, 53, was one of the longest-tenured members of WWE's active roster and just one week removed from facing Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena in a non-title match on the Saturday Night's Main Event special broadcast on May 24.
Killings initially made his then-World Wrestling Federation debut as 'K-Kwik' in 1999 before being released in August 2001, at which point he signed with the newly launched then-NWA: Total Nonstop Wrestling, becoming the company's second world champion and later a multi-time tag-team champion. The veteran wrestler re-signed with WWE in 2008, using the ring name 'R-Truth,' during a 17-year tenure that included winning the United States and Tag Team championship, as well as the 24/7 Championship a record 54 times.
