Tory Lanez and his wife are splitting up less than a year after they got married.

According to legal documents TMZ obtained on Monday, June 10, the imprisoned artist's former wife Raina Chassagne filed for divorce last week. The couple got hitched June 25, 2023 while Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, awaited his sentencing in the Megan Thee Stallion shooting case. The mother of his young son Kai listed "irreconcilable differences" as the main reason why she no longer wants to be known as Mrs. Peterson. Fortunately, Chassagne declined to drop her maiden name so she won't have to do a lot of extra paperwork.

During the year they were married, Chassagne brought their seven-year-old son to visit his dad at the beginning of the artist's 10-year prison sentence. Back in January, Kai got to spend two weekends in a row with Lanez. They sat at a table for four to five hours on Saturday and Sunday. During their quality time together, Tory and Kai spent time drawing, playing board games and eating food from the jail's vending machines. Now that they're going their separate ways, Chassagne also filed for full legal and physical custody of Kai.

Fans might remember how close Tory and his son were throughout the course of his trial in 2022. The "Say It" rapper faced three charges including negligent discharge of a firearm, assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm. brought young Kai to court with him several times. Lanez was ultimately found guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot. He was sentenced last August to a decade behind bars.
