If you live in California, you're not tripping out, there really are a lot of butterflies everywhere you go!
Isn't it the most beautiful thing you've ever seen!?
Okay, maybe that's me overreacting but, it really is so beautiful!
So after going on a hike and noticing the amount of butterflies, I decided to read up on WHY there are so many of these beautiful little creatures everywhere and guess what, there's a great explanation!
They're traveling from Mexico!
It’s part of their normal movement north from the dry deserts of Mexico to the lush Cascade Range in the Pacific Northwest.
They’re called painted ladies, to be exact. By the millions, the butterflies are fluttering through Southern California.
There's a documentary on Netflix that Will Smith narrates called "One Strange Rock" and in one of the episodes they talk about the butterfly migration!
