Rumored for Sept 10th release: iPhone 5S and 5C loses home button, gains fingerprint scanner; different colors.
As we’re reportedly a month away from the next-gen iPhone unveiling, rumors persist that Apple will indeed release two pillars of iPhone — the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. Along with the supposed fingerprint scanner the new model will receive, it will also lose its iconic Home button symbol, perhaps signifying that the button’s primary role will change.
Japanese blog Macotakara reports that the unofficial names the world has been using to refer to the rumored two new models of iPhone — the 5S and 5C — will indeed be the official names once Apple unveils the phones. The 5S would follow the normal naming convention Apple hardware refreshes (rather than makeovers) follow, while the “C” in the 5C likely stands for “color,” or perhaps even “cheap,” as the phone is thought to be a budget model.
